Abstract
Nanomedicine, at the interface of nanotechnology and microbiology, is revolutionizing healthcare through advanced diagnostics, targeted therapeutics, and precision medicine. Nanomaterials, including nanoparticles, nanorods, and nanotubes, offer unique properties such as high surface area, tunable chemistry, and the ability to cross biological barriers, enabling controlled drug delivery and improved therapeutic efficacy. Microbiological insights contribute to the synthesis of biocompatible nanoparticles, antimicrobial strategies, biofilm disruption, and green production methods, enhancing both safety and sustainability. Synergistic applications include targeted antimicrobial therapy, nanosensors for rapid pathogen detection, and bioinspired nanorobotics for drug delivery and tissue repair. Despite significant promise, challenges such as toxicity, biocompatibility, regulatory gaps, and scalability limit clinical translation. Future research should focus on eco-friendly synthesis, standardized regulatory frameworks, and comprehensive safety evaluations. The convergence of nanotechnology and microbiology holds transformative potential for personalized healthcare, infectious disease management, and next-generation therapeutics.
