Abstract

Obstetric fistula is a very serious complication of childbirth affecting millions of women in the developing world and its prevalence also exists in rural part of India. The main objective of the Training Module is to provide a sensitization programme for the target populations through community health workers. The module emphasizes on prevention of Obstetric Fistula and council the cases for Obstetric Fistula repair and treatment. Community awareness is very important to understand the basic concept of obstetric fistula and its prevention. We had a great experience for the development of the module by applying various strategies related to safe motherhood and quality care during pregnancy and childbirth. This module is a stepping stone of our project. We are pledged to present this module in which proper organization and integration of contents have been done for imparting the training programme. I have contributed regarding Prevention of Obstetric Fistula & Counselling of Obstetric Fistula cases. I hope this module will definitely provide guidelines for community health workers to identify obstetric fistula cases and aware of the measures for the prevention of obstetric fistula in their locality.
